Keynote Speaker

Mark Kramer

Mark Kramer, Harvard University professor and industry thought leader, will be speaking to us about the concept of Shared Value.

Mark leads FSG, a 150 person nonprofit consulting firm, working from six offices in the US, Europe and Asia, to devise social impact strategies for many of the world’s largest foundations, corporations and nonprofit organizations.

Mark also serves as a Senior Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He co-founded the Center for Effective Philanthropy, served on the jury of the annual Excellence in Corporate Philanthropy Award, is a member of the Aspen Philanthropy Group and the Kimberly-Clark Sustainability Advisory Board, serves on the planning committee for the Clinton Global Initiative, and lectures in the Executive Education Program of Harvard Business School.

Mark has published extensively on topics in philanthropy, collective impact, evaluation, and creating shared value. He has co-authored many influential articles in Harvard Business Review with Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School, and in Stanford Social Innovation Review with FSG colleagues, including Philanthropy’s New Agenda: Creating Value, Catalytic Philanthropy, Collective Impact, Strategic Philanthropy for a Complex World, The Competitive Advantage of Corporate Philanthropy, and Creating Shared Value.

Prior to founding FSG, Mark served as President of Kramer Capital Management. He is a graduate of Brandeis University, The Wharton School, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

USS Constitution Museum Event

(Monday, September 19)

All aboard! On Monday evening, we’ll sail across the historic Boston Harbor to the USS Constitution which is docked at the US Naval Yard in Charleston. Tours of “Old Ironsides” will be provided by the U.S. Navy. After the Evening Colors Ceremony at sunset, we’ll have dinner and drinks inside the USS Constitution Museum.

What is the recommended conference attire?

Business casual is suggested, but feel free to wear what’s comfortable for you!

Will I need to rent a car?

No. The Westin Waterfront is located a quick cab ride from Logan Airport and both train stations. We will be providing transportation to the Sunday outings and Monday night event.

Where should I stay? When do I need to book my hotel?

The conference sessions will take place at the Westin Waterfront at 425 Summer Street in Boston. We have secured a reduced room rate which you can access at www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/CyberGrants. The group rate is available until August 26, 2016 and is subject to availability.

What does the conference registration fee include?

Conference registration includes all sessions, meals and transportation to the Sunday outings and Monday night event.

When does registration close?

Registration closes at midnight on Friday, September 2. This will allow us two weeks to finalize logistics, transportation, meals, etc.

What’s the weather like in Boston in September?

Typical daytime temperature is in the low 70s, cooling off at night to the mid 50s. However, it’s New England, and anything is possible!

Will my CyberGrants team be present?

While some members of the CyberGrants team will be back in Andover and Princeton working hard to make incredible happen, many CyberGrants team members will be attending CGUC.

Do I need to choose my sessions now?

We will be sending out a survey towards the end of August to get head counts for the Sunday afternoon activities and evening reception. We will also ask which sessions you’re most interested in attending, but final selections can be a “game day decision”.

Who should I inform if I have food allergies, dietary restrictions, or accessibility needs?
