Bank of America Associates are not eligible for nomination to the Local Heroes program, and the children of associates are not eligible for nomination to the Student Leader program. Similarly, associates or their family members may not nominate any organizations for the Neighborhood Builders program. It is important to note, however, that associates will be important in helping promote the initiative by using the collateral and other communications about the initiative that will be targeted at the neighborhood level.

The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative received many strong nominations, and our intent was to select the strongest candidates from these nominations. To assist us with this task we established Local Market Selection Committees. This committee was comprised of local community and business leaders with extensive knowledge of the community and those who are making a difference in the health and vitality of their neighborhoods. The committee selected winners who were viewed as the strongest candidates. The decisions of these Local Market Selection Committee members are final.
