When you request a Grant, you are directing Wonderful Giving’s charitable dollars to the nonprofit of your choice. You do not need to make a personal donation. You can give up to 3 grants a year and should make sure to use up your total available funds. When you request a Matching Gift, you must first make a personal contribution to an eligible organization (i.e. charity or nonprofit) and submit proof of your donation online at wonderfulgiving.com. Then Wonderful Giving will match the amount you donated dollar for dollar. At this time only U.S. based employees are eligible for the Matching Gifts Program.

The default search looks for an exact match for a school name, but schools often have shortened names or abbreviate words in their listings (e.g. ELEM, ES or EL for Elementary School). With a diligent search every school should come up with a link. If it does not show up, shorten the name to the keywords and make sure you use the drop down menu to say all of the words instead of exact match.
If it comes up with a link that says "Select", it means you are not the first person to donate to it and it has already been vetted.
If you get a nominate link for a school you will notice it lists a NCES District/School ID: number right under the address. If you copy that number, you can paste it in the Tax ID section on the nomination form. You will be notified by email when your nomination has been vetted.
The search function accesses the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) database of nonprofits. First, do a diligent search for your organization. Search by name/keywords and state OR Tax ID number. You do not need a Tax ID number to search. If your organization is not listed, refine your search using the drop down menu under "Organization/School Name" and/or add the city. If your organization still does not show up, click on the blue "nominate an organization" link. At this time you will need to have the Tax ID number and contact information to complete your nomination. Please note that you can only nominate U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organizations. You will receive an email once your organization has been reviewed.

If your organization was not approved, it did not meet the Giving Guidelines for eligible organizations. Or, it is an organization that has failed to provide required information or to cash checks in a timely manner. You will be notified by email when your nomination has been vetted.

When you click on the Grants Program page you can search by category (Option 2) to help you identify an organization that would be meaningful to you. Simply use the drop-down menu to choose the type of cause you would like to contribute to (e.g. animals, health, education) and the search function will generate charities in your community that have been vetted for donations. You can also contact info@wonderfulgiving.com for assistance.

You cannot receive any goods or services in exchange for Wonderful Giving funds. Goods or services include: event tickets, auction prizes, raffle tickets, memberships that include any benefits, tuition payments, tangible items or services. In addition funds cannot be matched if you received anything for your original donation. Some organizations (such as environmental organizations) will give you membership that does not include any benefits, and this is acceptable. If you receive something you didn’t expect, contact info@rollgiving.com. Deliberate violation of this policy may result in exclusion from participation in the Wonderful Giving Program.

The Wonderful Giving Program permits donations to U.S. accredited parochial schools and non-religious social service programs of faith-based organizations.
Programs eligible for redirected matching gifts may include:
Soup Kitchens operated out of the house of worship that abstain from worship, religious instruction or recruitment
Homeless shelters run by the house of worship that do not require participation in religious services in return for housing
A general community scholarship program that does not require participation in religious services for eligibility
Please note: Wonderful Giving will research all redirected matching gift requests to ensure that the identified program complies with our articulated guidelines. You will be notified if your redirected matching gift request is ineligible.
Wonderful Giving does not have the capacity to deduct personal donations from your paycheck, so you must personally make a cash donation before it can be matched.

Once you have reached your six month anniversary, you can register gifts in the Wonderful Giving Program. Wonderful Giving accepts requests for grants and matching gifts year round. While you can make your donation at any time during the year, we suggest that you give early in the year when many groups receive fewer donations. Funds do not carry over from year to year. Your available funds are reset on January first every year.

Although all Wonderful Giving donations must be made to U.S. based 501(c)(3) organizations, there are several ways to support eligible nonprofits and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in your country.
Please watch the video How To for a thorough tutorial.
Look for U.S. Affiliates: Many organizations outside of the United States also have U.S. affiliates. If you know the organization you would like to support, check with them or check online to see if there is a U.S. affiliate. For example, Habitat for Humanity has offices in 70 countries but there is also a U.S.-based Habitat for Humanity, International (in Georgia). You can make a donation to Habitat for Humanity, International and put your country name in the “Designation Line” to support your local affiliate.
Look for “American Friends of” Organizations: Many organizations outside of the United States have “American Friends of” branches for their organization. If you know the organization you would like to support, check with them to see if they have one. In addition to an internet search, many “American Friends of” organizations can be found on the IRS website. For example, there is an American Friends of the Louvre (in New York) and American Friends of the Shanghai Museum (in New York).
Visit CAF America on the web: CAF America is a U.S.-based global grantmaking organization. You can search by region and once you locate the organization you would like to support, click on its name to confirm the Grantee Approval Expiration Date has not passed. If it has passed it is not currently eligible. If the date has not passed, write down the country and organization name for use on wonderfulgiving.com. On wonderfulgiving.com you should make your request to CAF America (in Virginia) and put the country and name of the local organization you would like to support in the “Designation Line”. We will send your donation to CAF America and they will send it to your organization. (Please note that CAF America takes a 5% processing fee.)
Visit Global Giving on the web: Global Giving is a U.S.-based crowdfunding organization that vets, monitors, and supports nonprofit projects in countries all over the world. On their website you can search by region and locate a project or projects in your country. Once you find a project you would like to support, write down the country and name of the project and log on to wonderfulgiving.com. On wonderfulgiving.com you should make your request to Global Giving (in the District of Columbia) and put the country and project name in the “Designation Line” when you make your request. (Please note that Global Giving takes a 15% fulfillment fee which includes the cost of training and supporting project leaders.)
Donate to support specific causes: If there is a cause that is close to your heart consider making a donation to a U.S.-based organization that supports that cause. For example, if you want to fund research to help cure a specific disease use the Internet to find U.S. organizations that are working in that area. Cures are universal! If you want to protect endangered species you can make a donation to the World Wildlife Fund (in the District of Columbia). You can also contact info@wonderfulgiving.com for assistance.
Wonderful Giving, International – UK and Australia
Visit CAF America on the web: CAF America is a U.S.-based global grantmaking organization. Click on their “keyword” search to access the charity register from your country to locate the name and number of the NGO of your choice. Click on their name or number to confirm they are in good standing and, in Australia, registered as a nonprofit. Write them down for use on wonderfulgiving.com.
Managers cannot encourage their reports to support a specific cause.
Employees are not permitted to use company email lists to seek broad support for their causes.
Employees can talk about their giving and the causes they are passionate about to close colleagues. As long as there is no sense of coercion this is permitted.
Employees who decide to personally support colleagues (not use their Wonderful Giving Grant funds) in races or walks can be reminded to submit their personal donation for Wonderful Giving Matching.
