Welcome to the Vertex Request Management System. Below you will find information regarding our external funding process, including current funding opportunities, submission requirements, and FAQs. Vertex has several external funding opportunities. Please review the information below to learn more about the different funding types.
External Funding Types
Grants
A Grant is funding provided for a specific, independent, third-party educational, advocacy, or scientific initiative intended for a specific audience of health care professionals, patients and/or caregivers, or the research community. Vertex offers two types of grant requests, independent medical education and patient advocacy and awareness.
- Independent Medical Education (IME) Support for medical education activities for healthcare providers. The activities may or may not offer credit. All IME submissions, regardless of whether credit is awarded, must meet the relevant accreditation standards.
- Independent Patient Advocacy and Awareness (non-IME) Support for education and awareness initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for patients.
All grant requests must be unsolicited, and Vertex cannot influence any aspect of an activity, including but not limited to, content, speakers, or participants. In addition, Vertex does not receive tangible benefits in return for its grant funding.
Requests are reviewed on a rolling basis, but all requests should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the activity start date. All requests and required attachments must be submitted in English.
Requests must be for a specific activity with a clearly defined budget. Vertex does not award funding for general operating expenses.

Sponsorships/Corporate Memberships
A Sponsorship is funding for an educational, clinical, or scientifically focused meeting, activity, or event where Vertex receives tangible benefits, such as the opportunity to have an exhibit booth at the conference, a full- or half-page advertisement in the meeting program, etc.
A Corporate Membership is funding for the opportunity to join an organization that is relevant to Vertex’s educational, scientific, or business interests and that provide Vertex with the ability to attend the organization’s meetings, participate in committees, or other similar benefits.
Sponsorship requests and corporate memberships should be submitted to Vertex no later than 45 days before the activity start date. All requests must be submitted in English, and requests must clearly outline the tangible benefits available to Vertex, which should be generally available to other organizations.

ISS support must go to an organization, not to an individual.
Vertex does not have control over the study concept, design, conduct, communication, or monitoring of the research conducted by independent investigators.
