About the Merrell College Ambassador Program
Outdoor Nation and Merrell are looking for 12 college ambassadors empowered and excited to get more students outside! That’s right, Merrell wants you influencers who love being outside to join our team.
Large social network (an on-the-ground and online influencer)
Ability to rally people, getting them excited
Passionate about outdoor recreation and stewardship
Through a competitive process and leveraging its access to the college market, Outdoor Nation will work with Merrell to identify 12 college students to serve as the next class of this pioneering, awesome ambassador program. Each ambassador will be asked to develop and implement a semester-long strategy that engages his/her campus and community in outdoor recreation.
The ultimate goal of this exciting new program is for each ambassador to motivate, mobilize and engage at least 200 peers, especially outdoor novices, in regular outdoor recreation experiences. Successful programs will:
Engage college students’ ideas, energy and ingenuity in program development and campus outreach
Leverage the assets and infrastructure of college campuses (i.e. gear, transportation, marketing) to support outdoor experiences
Maximize social media platforms through creative campaigns to inspire outdoor activities – especially reaching diverse audiences
Encouraging people who don’t normally spend time outside to get outside.
Work with Merrell field representatives to engage a diverse range of new campus and community partners – organizing a minimum of five outdoor outings that include at least two on-campus clinics with Merrell representatives
Promote outdoor recreation to key audiences including students and the public
Create engaging content for social. Photos, videos and stories that they will share on campus, through social platforms and with Merrell. This may include:
Instagram ‘takeovers’ where our ambassadors would share their photos and stories on Merrell and campus social sites
Short videos used as a Vine collection of experiences
Op-eds and articles in their school newspaper to educate peers about local outdoor issues and inspire greater outdoor participation
Ultimately, ambassadors will receive career exposure and potential Merrell employment opportunities. So if you are interested in getting people outside, having fun and explore a career in the outdoors, apply today!
Details and How It Works

Before you begin the application; make sure you can meet the following Ambassador requirements:
Proposals must include details of the following activities:
