prAna recognizes that local grant programs often can make a huge difference. The prAna Explorer Grant program will award 12 grants of $5,000 each to give organizations the resources and funding needed to bring innovative ideas to life and build sustainable partnerships that will ensure continuous outdoor recreation program offerings. Projects should engage underserved youth and encourage a passion for more outdoor adventures. As a result of positive, consistent exposure to outdoor activities, participants should become more comfortable with and aware of local outdoor play opportunities and learn how to self-organize outdoor happenings in the future.
Before you begin the application; make sure your project meets the following requirements:
- Projects must be based in/around the Edina, MN, Denver/Boulder, CO, Manhattan Beach, CA, Portland, OR, San Diego, CA and San Francisco/Palo Alto, CA metropolitan areas in order to be eligible for funding.
- Projects must connect young people to the outdoors and engage them through ongoing outdoor experiences.
- At the conclusion of the grant cycle, there should be one climatic outdoor event planned that could potentially include prAna in a meaningful way. For example, the involvement of prAna athletes.
- Projects should have a local retail partner who currently carries prAna involved that is able to offer program support, promotion, and/or guidance.
- Projects should take place from June - November 2017 and must be completed by December 1, 2017.
- Project outcomes must include a minimum of 5 high-resolution photos and a 1- to 3-minute video highlighting project scope.
- Projects must use grant funding for on-the-ground program needs rather than operating or salary costs.
- Special consideration will be given to projects that involve or engage:
- Urban or underserved communities
- Climbing gyms and yoga studios as their retail partner
