At times, Alexion may provide support to eligible external organizations in the form of Grants, or Corporate Giving.
Alexion provides Grants to certain third parties to support specific, independent educational activities, programs, or projects proposed by the third parties that align with Alexion’s therapeutic areas of interest. Please note that Alexion is now accepting Medical Education and Patient Advocacy Grant through AstraZeneca's application portal.
Alexion also provides support in the form of Corporate Giving. Corporate Giving is giving that supports organizations that have an immediate and long-lasting positive impact in their communities and that closely align with Alexion’s Corporate Giving areas of focus. Corporate Giving areas of focus include, but are not limited to: community well-being, educational opportunities, and diversity and inclusion efforts in society.

Specific Areas of Interest for Corporate Giving
Corporate Giving at Alexion seeks to achieve the following within Alexion’s geographic footprint (see Alexion.com and choose “Select a Country” tab):
Enable disadvantaged/disenfranchised people to achieve a sense of belonging, eliminate barriers that may lead to isolation, and provide the support needed to persevere and thrive.
Examples of this type of support includes efforts that:
- Advance the emotional well-being of disadvantaged/disenfranchised people
- Provide educational opportunities for disadvantaged/disenfranchised people
- Advance diversity and inclusion in society and critical institutions
- Other positive community impact (priority is given to efforts that support the above themes on this list, but exceptions may be made.)
How to Apply for Corporate Giving funding
All requests for Corporate Giving funding must be submitted through this CyberGrants portal. Corporate Giving Requests that are not submitted through CyberGrants will not be considered. When submitting a request, you will be guided through the electronic application process and provided instructions and help options. Please ensure that you complete each required field, which is marked with an asterisk ('*'). If Alexion needs additional information about your organization or your request, you will receive a request for more information via the e-mail sent to the address you provide upon registration.
Funding Requirements for Corporate Giving
Successful Corporate Giving applications will meet the following criteria:
- Clear alignment with the Alexion Corporate Giving focus areas as described above;
- Demonstrated need for the program or project;
- Demonstrated capacity of the organization to deliver quality programming and meet established goals;
- Potential for positive, measurable social benefit;
- Financial support from an array of sources; and
- Evidence that the program or project can be sustained beyond the duration of funding by Alexion
To be considered for Alexion Corporate Giving, your organization, and the program or project for which you are requesting funds, must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Nonprofit Status: All funding recipients must be nonprofit, charitable organizations tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the international equivalent.
- Emergency service providers such as fire and police departments must apply under their own public charity with 501(c)(3) designation, or the international equivalent.
- Religious organizations such as churches, mosques and synagogues may qualify only if they have established a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or the international equivalent, to operate the funded program AND the outreach program is offered to the general population regardless of religious affiliation.
- Elementary and secondary schools cannot be funded directly; programs administered within a school environment by a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, or the international equivalent, may be considered.
Funding Limitations for Corporate Giving
The following types of organizations and activities are ineligible for Corporate Giving funding:
- Social, labor, alumni and fraternal organizations (e.g., higher education alumni groups, sororities, fraternities, workers' unions, exclusive membership clubs limited to a specific constituency, etc.);
- Political organizations and organizations whose dominant purpose is to influence legislation or participate/intervene in political campaigns on behalf of or against any candidate for public office;
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or identification, political affiliation or any other characteristic protected by law or local policy;
- Terrorist organizations or those not compliant with the USA Patriot Act;
- Individuals; and
- Loans, debt reduction and operating deficits.
Review Processes and Decisions
*Alexion Corporate Giving requests are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Alexion does not make decisions based on the desire to generate goodwill from Corporate Giving requests, or to otherwise reward past or future purchases, referrals or recommendations of Alexion products.
All Corporate Giving decisions are final and may not be appealed.
